Today I spent most of the day in the 1300's. Well, trying to get there. Most of it was spent trying to re-write Devin and Geythin's history. A daunting job to say the least. I've found that if I write it out in an essay form asking myself questions, I have to answer them. Sounds crazy doesn't it? Anyway I think I've finally realized that I was trying to make this more difficult than it needed to be. I realized that the answer was simple. DNA is smart. If you have power, chances are, you are not pure of heart and mind. If you are pure of heart and mind you rarely have power. Power equaling magic. Therefore Devin & Geythin have been waiting for a long time for someone with both qualities. They're both a little cranky.
Then I solved the dilemma of how Devin became banished and realized that he can't go back and he can never grow old. He is stuck. Being and arrogant fae cost him a lot and all for a riddle which I've got to find. I suppose it's not really necessary for me to know the riddle and the answer to the riddle but I think at some point I'm going to need it. I may have to invent one myself. *Hrmph* Buggar! More work. And riddles are very hard work.
At any rate this fixed a lot of my present problems with how I'm going to end the book which has changed since the beginning. The opening of the book is going to change as well because my Devin was morphing into a character that has already been written and well we can't have that. Not good, but fixed now.
Tomorrow I tackle how I'm going to handle the villain part of this piece. I'm into the story and my brain is tired. I've done nothing but think, think, think today. Oy!
