Okay, the title may be a little misleading. Last night, I had a panic attack. A real, true blue panic attack. I was blocked. Not a little blocked either. I couldn't write a thing. I even actually wrote my name a hundred time on a blank computer screen.
Then I got mad. Why wouldn't it come. I've been working on the story for several weeks. I have these wonderful character sheets, my blocks [outline] to work from, but the words wouldn't leave my brain and dance on the computer screen for me.
I wanted to scream. Really, if everyone had not been asleep I might have done it too. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. So I read some blogs, procrastinated and decided to go knit.
I've always been one of those crafty people. You know the type. They always have some little project going. So over Christmas my mother was knitting scarves with this wonderful stuff called fun fur. It's really cool and makes the most wonderful scarves. So last night was a knitting night.
I turned off the computer thoroughly disgusted with myself and went and sat in front of the boob tube and pulled out my knitting. Knitting is wonderful when your brain is on overload. Knit on and knit off...[I don't do complicated stitches] Count them before you begin the next row to make sure you don't drop or add an extra stitch. I ended up sitting there til one o'clock in the morning just stewing over my writing.
I can be very self absorbed.
Then I went to bed, didn't get much sleep but today things look better and I wonder how much of it was due to that knitting. I opened my word doc's this morning and decided to take a different approach to the sections I was writing. Amazing what changing to first person will do, it jump started me right back into the story and now I'm flying.

Well, I ended up buying all kinds of fun fur! I'm making Janie a scarf for Halloween next year. It'll probably take me that long to finish the darn thing and get it in the mail. (no wise cracks Janie, I'm doing better huh?)
The nutcracker (whom I affectionately have named Nicholai) Is now standing guard in my dining room. Poor little bugger is holding all of Meg's purses at the moment. I meant to take a picture yesterday but I cannot remember what I've done with the blooming digital camera. Such is my life. I'll post a pic soon!
Hugs,
Michelle
