Well, I had a great time with my friends Morgan Hawke and Angela Knight yesterday. I mean really you can't go wrong in hanging out at a book store with two such prolific writers. Then of course we headed over to Harpers for lunch where of course the meals were so big we ended up with doggie bags. [Never let food go to waste-it's a rule here in the South]
I ended up hashing out a kind of gothic novella with the girls and told them of my concerns and they told me balderdash, write it woman. And so I guess I will be. I've started on my notes already which is incredibly mind blowing to switch from story to story this way. I'm wondering how I'm going to schedule it so as not to lose tone and atmosphere. However, they both will have similar tones. They both are gothic like tales though the novella is a historical and I have to admit writing a historical makes my stomach hurt. I can do it, I'm just scared to death to get the details wrong or use the wrong word choices. Yikes, someone will nail me to a white picket fence somewhere. The other is SPELLS...I so dearly love this story.
I've got Devin nailed down now. I know why is he where he is, what he did to become what he is...poor guy, nice guys always finish last. He's a bit peeved at the moment and I'm going to have to revise after the first draft. [Note: Janie, I'm not changing anything at this point however have made notes on my block as to what you've told me to do.]
I had a wonderful time yesterday! Just wonderful. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if Janie had been there to share in the fun. I've talked to Earl about making a trip to Asphodel sometime this summer to go see my mentor. I'm dying to just wander around her backyard while all the flowers are in full bloom. Perhaps she can teach me how to get rid of aphids and black spot. My poor roses.
Ta for now.
