Well, I received a wonderful surprise today. A good friend sent me a book. A very special book called PHANTOM by Susan Kay. I am devouring it already. I took two hours off just to begin reading. So far I love it. The beginning is written in first person and so draws you into this world of madness that you feel you are really there. Thank you so much, Janie. I have looked forward to reading this book forever.
Tonight, I sat back and thought of my Halloween Novella. I've thought a lot about it and realized that the original story I have will work. One will have to suspend some belief because of the era it is set in, but I think the story has some potential. We shall see. It is to be a short story, so it will have to begin at a gallop. Another emotional roller coaster ride. I don't seem to be able to write anything but these days. Perhaps it is an inherent part of me that needs to bleed on the page.
I have added another track to the SPELLS music I write to...The song is called King for a Day by fuel. It has some very potent lyric's.
Bled the line tonight
fading as the lies lay weeping on the page
nothing was saved
falling at the sight
photographs of white bright grin and sunny days
and all was betrayed
I'm collecting songs that put me in the right frame of mind to write this story. In some ways, it has a very haunted feel to it. Yes, I think haunted is the right word to describe this story, as both the hero and the heroine are so haunted. By each other, the things they both want and need. Their needs and wants stalk them like a hungry tiger eager for a meal. If they are not careful they will both be devoured.
I hurt my back Sunday somehow and have been in a very bad way. Today has been better but I have been working on the laptop for the last couple of nights trying to hold out to take advil before bed.
Will be sending my first section to Susan tomorrow, and yes, I'll have my fingers crossed that she feels the same thing I do when she reads it. It is first draft. Rough, and sparse on description, but I want the "need" to show and the feeling that the clock is ticking against them. I really feel this is some of the best work I have ever done.
I've had to update my blocks to reflect changes. I changed the character sheets on Sunday. So that is done...now to finish up with the Novella for Halloween which is primarily done I just need to blend the sensual elements in with the story.
Hope everyone is having a good week.
