Wednesday's Work...

Yesterday, I did get a lot accomplished on the current work in progress. I made a template in Wordperfect to help organize my thoughts. Sections one through three are done. They still need work, but I feel good about it. Very good.

I have not written one word on the actual text. This is a challenge for me, as normally I want to go pound at the keyboard. However, I am using incredible restraint these days. I am determined to do this the correct way.

A thought came to me yesterday about HABITS. The way we write is certainly a habit. Learning to become a good writer, using precise thought and planning causes you to break old habits and create new ones. So you must begin slowly. I read an interesting comment on Meg Cabot's blog about how you eat an entire elephant. I can now see how true this comment is...you do it in small bites, over time.

So what I am learning to do is break old, bad habits. The muse is still there, she hasn't gone anywhere. I can feel the beat of her wings against my neck. She is waiting, sometimes impatiently, for me to get down the bones so she can fly. Poor thing doesn't realize I'm going to have her on a tight leash.

So here is to making a new good habit.
Hugs and everyone have a fantastic day.
Michelle

I believe my Muse and yours are in the same boat. But mine is pacing the floor behind me, tapping her feet, and putting her hands on her hips. So impatient. I don't know WHERE she gets that *pretending to study the ceiling*
We're developing a whole new style, Michelle. I'm looking forward to putting it in motion.
