First of all, the pronunciation is exquisite itself. All those soft letters. It rather rolls off the tongue. And the definition fits it perfectly.
The recherche diamond sparkled brilliantly on the crimson, satin pillow.
SIGH

Laughing...Janie, you kill me. Taking a cue from EarthSea...Words are power sweetie. My New Years Resolution this year is to read every word in my dictionary (the big one)so I'm picking some of my favorites. Some will make it into my work I'm sure, and well, others as you say, may not fit. However, you have to appreciate the beauty of this word right?

As for the fifth graders? Heh! I think some of the students in my daughters class have a more extensive vocabulary than I do. They are amazing little critters. It is amazing when a bunch of 9 year olds are reading Harry Potter and Lemony Snicket. They cannot help but to expand their vocabulary. Hey, Meghan is learning Latin! I'm so impressed with her, she's really taking to it! Hugs sweetie, and hope you are having a good week!
