You know, I've done some digging today because I was confused. Confused on whether it is the man or the character that I was so entranced with...
The man himself is an enigma, a mystery. Quiet, scholarly, a deep thinker, a man who thinks before he speaks, is always quietly watching what goes on around him. I saw a picture today of a small girl asking for an autograph. This picture was special in that the small girl had his undivided attention. Very special indeed.
I've heard it said he's far out, way out there...maybe that is the artist in him. Most thinkers are not in the average everyday spectrum of life. There are much more worried about the cosmos, about what tomorrow will bring.
For me I think it is a state of dreaming. And what would the world be without dreamers...A fairly dull place
Therein lies his charm. The actor who is uncomfortable when off the stage. The Warrior who wants no glory. I saw a quote from Liv Tyler about how each one of them had makeup mirror's for the LOTR, but Viggo's mirror was cluttered with photograph's, things from home. So much so that he couldn't have seen his image staring back at him if he tried.
I don't know if you've ever seen the interview clips of him, but what pleases me most is that he seems to be amazed and a little confused at all the attention. The man has no television set. He was forced to get a phone (which sounds a lot like our Dear Lady Jane, who by the way, hates the phone.
The other thing that struck me as so sincere is his reason for not getting fan mail. I love this about him. He said that he used to answer all fan mail personally, but as his popularity has grown he has asked that no one send any more as he cannot respond to everyone. And he will not allow anyone else to answer his mail.
I think he is the true definition of the Renaisance man.
