Goals for July & August

Okay, I'm taking the big leap here. Oy. I'm scared. Can you see me shaking in my boots over here? I'm going to take the big leap and give myself some forced deadlines. Will anyone beat me with a wet noodle if I don't accomplish these goals? No. Well, I might let Martin beat me and keep me on track. Here are the following goals I've set for myself regarding my two works in progress.

SPELLS

Roughly I have 30,000 words done, however all this is not going to stay so I'm rounding down to twenty thousand words. That being said I have 21 days left in July starting today. I will be writing 2000 words per day (including weekends and Sundays--even if I travel) for the rest of July to get me to a 62,000 word count. Then I am giving myself a couple of days off in August for good measure but that leaves 28,000 words to do in August. I should be finished with the first draft by the 19th of August, on my birthday. That is my present to myself. So...it goes like this

July=Target word count...total 62,000 words to be at 90,000 by Aug 19th

Boxers is the same.

So if I can pull this off, which I am committing myself to this I should have two first drafts completed by my birthday. OMG! And I'm not smoking.

Somebody shoot me now. But I think I can do this working on two different stories. Oy...I'm insane. But I gotta try. I've been playing with these stories too long and I need to get my but in gear. It will be interesting to see if I can do this, but I'll never know unless I try. If I can do this I'll take from the 19th through the end of August off. Two weeks. I'll be letting the stories sit until September 15th and then I'll begin revisions.

Holy Crap!

I know you can do it!! And, quitting smoking is the best gift you could have ever given yourself. Have you seen the movie, The Insider? It is excellent, about the guy who blew the whistle on the tobacco companies. Russell Crowe and Al Pacino are in it. Directed by Miami Vice's Michael Mann. The tobacco companies add chemicals to make cigarettes more addictive as well as harmful. I hope you win this battle and have a long life!

I know you can do it. I never thought I could write a 55K word category in 3 months, and I not only wrote the first and second drafts, but I polished it and sent it to the editor who requested it.

And listen to Janie! Don't smoke! Smoking = devil!

Thanks ladies for your support. (I feel like one of those old Bartles & James commercials. Do you remember those? The two old gentlement sitting on the front porch? We thank you for you kind support--Grin)

The smoking is going well. My teeth may suffer for it, but hell somethings got to suffer doesn't it? Tootsie roll pops are my newest addiction.

Thanks Angelle for the support! And thank you for dropping by my blog. I've written a few longer pieces in my time under my other pen name...Samantha Reynolds, but these two are the longest I've ever, so to speak, 'gone' for...laughing.

Hugs to you all...

Good luck on your goals/deadlines Michelle,

I'm rooting for you. And-- if at some point the rooting doesn't pack quite enough punch, I'm more than willing take to the whip.

Just so you know.
I'm only thinking of you, of course.

Anything to help a starkmad as a hatter met their goals.
